Cell Phones Changing the Way People Communicate

Cell phones (or simply phones as they're commonly known in the USA), have drastically changed the way people communicate, organize, plan, and entertain themselves in a very short period of time. From their inception as bulky, noisy portable car radios in the early 1980s, cell phones progressed to becoming multimedia communications devices with virtually limitless capability only a few short years later. With features like touch screens, cameras, video recorders, internet access, and Bluetooth technology, cell phones can even be used as computer hardware! The possibilities seem almost endless for this amazingly versatile device. But just like all technological innovations, cell phones require some basic understanding of the basics to allow you to get the most out of your phone.

One of the most important features of cell phones is their user interface. User interface is an aspect of a cell phone's operation, which affects how easily a user will use the cell phone and what features the phone includes. It is an extremely important aspect of cell phones and should not be overlooked or ignored. Here are some quick tips to help you understand what the user interface is and how it affects how well your phone functions.

Bluetooth: Bluetooth is a technology used in conjunction with wireless networks in order to make wireless connections between electronic devices. A popular form of Bluetooth is BLE which stands for Broad Area Network. The most widely implemented form of Bluetooth is the Bluetooth Low Energy. Most cell phones support Bluetooth, however the majority of mobile phones do not include Bluetooth as an available feature and must be purchased specially for the model in question.

Smartphones: Smartphones are mobile devices designed to use software applications. These applications allow users to surf the internet, send emails and perform other tasks that are commonly performed on personal computers. Typically, smartphone models contain a large number of pre-installed apps. These apps can be downloaded from the Android Market or the Apple App Store. Some smartphones have features such as Wifi Tethering which lets you connect your smartphone to a WiFi network so that you can surf the internet wirelessly even without a wireless router.

Identity Module: An identity module in cell phones is a hardware component that authenticates and secures your mobile data. The purpose of the identity module is to restrict the access to certain applications and certain features of your phone. The identity module in your smartphone could either be a simple pin code which requires the user to memorize it in order to access restricted applications or it could be a specialized biometric device such as a fingerprint sensor which requires the user's fingerprint to gain access to the mobile phone. In most modern smartphones you can replace the identity module with a customized one such as a thumbprint unlock or a facial recognition tool.

Software: Most cell phones come with default software such as Yahoo Messenger, Gmail, etc. However, you can easily install your own customized software by downloading them from the Google Play Store or the Amazon Appstore. This enables you to customize your smartphone such as adding new widgets or games. You can also install third party software such as Skype or Temple Point. These third party applications let you take advantage of the advanced features of your cell phone such as browsing the internet, listening to music, taking pictures, video chatting, etc.
